Our School:

Bonita St. STEAM Academy provides educational services for 395 students in Carson, California. We are part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, and we are also supported by the Region South LAUSD District located in Gardena, California. Our school is on a traditional calendar, and we provide after school care through The Boys and Girls Club of Carson and LAUSD's Beyond the Bell after school services.

LAUSD STEAM Certification
STEAM education in LAUSD supports school communities in preparing students for college, career, and life by aligning instructional approaches to support students in making connections to the real world. A problem-based transdisciplinary approach accomplishes this by engaging and inspiring students to investigate and design solutions to challenges faced by their communities and the world around them. As students experience authentic real-world problems, they develop empathy as they design solutions, not for themselves, but for others. The 4 Cs of 21st Century Skills -critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication- are deeply embedded in the tasks students must accomplish to solve the problem.
